Based at our Leicester workshop, this role offers the opportunity to work on pieces for private homes, hotels and interior projects worldwide. As part of a skilled team of craftspeople, you will be responsible for the preparation and polishing of our brass lighting components to a very high standard.

Purpose of the Position:

The role is responsible for the preparation and polishing of brass components to a very high standard for use within our lighting workshop, ensuring quality standards and production schedule are maintained. 

Working alongside a team of experienced craftspeople, the successful candidate will help deliver outstanding designs to agreed QC specifications, on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in metal polishing.

Due to the nature of the small team in Leicester the role will require a can-do attitude, and the candidate must not be afraid to get stuck in with the task at hand, be enthusiastic and self-motivated. A flexible and team-oriented approach is essential, as the successful candidate will occasionally be required to support other workshop functions to help maintain workflow, meet production deadlines and contribute to the overall success of the Leicester operation. This role is suitable for someone with a keen eye for detail and the ability to achieve the excellent standards for which Soane Britain is well known.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect components throughout production to ensure accuracy, quality, and tolerance standards are achieved
• Polishing and preparation of brass components to a high standard
• Responsibility for components and consumables within the polishing workshop
• Support efficient workflow within the workshop to help achieve production schedules and weekly targets
• Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and general housekeeping standards
• Ensure safe working practices are always followed and maintain a clean working environment
• Assist with other workshop activities and processes as required

Qualifications for the Position:

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship
• Experience of metal polishing (Minimum 2 years)
• Experience of using hand and power tools
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a small team
• Experience of finishing processes welcome (hot and cold patination)
• Interest or experience in electrical wiring would be advantageous
• Interest in, or appreciation for, luxury furniture, lighting, and British craftsmanship is desirable
