Role Purpose
To support the kitchen team by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation and food safety. The Kitchen Porter plays an important role in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently throughout service.
Main Responsibilities
- Wash and store plates, cutlery, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
- Keep the pot-wash area clean, organised and safe.
- Clean kitchen floors, walls, equipment, storage areas and other designated areas.
- Remove waste safely and regularly, following the correct disposal and recycling procedures.
- Ensure bins are cleaned and waste areas remain tidy.
- Support with receiving and storing deliveries when required.
- Assist the kitchen team with basic food preparation where trained and authorised.
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are used and stored safely, following COSHH requirements.
- Follow all food safety, health and safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.
- Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, pest activity, spillages or safety hazards immediately.
- Complete required cleaning schedules and records accurately.
- Support colleagues when needed and contribute to a smooth and efficient service.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the management team.
