We're looking for a Plumbing and Heating Sales Assistant to join our team and become a knowledgeable and friendly face for our customers, helping them find the right products and solutions for their projects.
This is a varied, customer-focused role where you'll work on the trade counter, supporting customers with their plumbing and heating requirements while helping to drive sales and deliver an excellent experience every time.
You'll be one of the first people our customers meet, so building strong relationships and providing helpful, knowledgeable advice will be a big part of your day. You'll deal with customers face-to-face and over the phone, answering questions, providing accurate pricing and helping customers find the products they need.
You'll use your knowledge of plumbing and heating products to understand what customers are looking for and identify opportunities to recommend additional products or solutions that could help them complete their project. You'll also proactively ask questions, understand customers' upcoming work and pass relevant sales leads to the wider team.
Great customer service is at the heart of this role. You'll make sure customers are acknowledged and served promptly, taking the time to understand their requirements and provide the right support.
You'll build relationships with regular customers and become someone they know they can rely on for helpful advice and a friendly service. Whether you're helping a trade customer find a specific fitting or supporting a homeowner with their requirements, you'll aim to make every interaction a positive one.
You'll also support branch promotions and sales initiatives, looking for opportunities to upsell and link relevant products to existing purchases.
Alongside your customer and sales responsibilities, you'll play an important part in keeping the plumbing and heating department well stocked, organised and presented.
You'll help receive and check deliveries, pick orders, manage stock and support inventory and stocktake activities. You'll make sure products are stored safely and correctly, displays are well merchandised and the department remains clean, tidy and welcoming for customers.
You'll also have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the wider Bradfords product range. Full training will be provided on machinery and mechanical handling equipment where required, so we're looking for someone who is keen to learn and develop their skills.
We're looking for someone who has a good knowledge of plumbing and heating products and enjoys using that knowledge to help customers.
You'll be friendly, approachable and confident communicating with a wide range of people. You'll have a natural sales focus and enjoy identifying opportunities to recommend products, build customer relationships and contribute to the success of the branch.
You'll be organised and able to work at pace, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. A positive, can-do attitude is important, as is the flexibility to get involved wherever you're needed.
Previous experience in a plumbing and heating sales, trade counter, builders' merchant or similar customer-facing environment would be beneficial. You'll also need to be comfortable with cash handling and working within Health & Safety requirements.
