Regional L&D Trainer - advert

At Tortilla, we believe great people development is key to building brilliant teams, strong leaders and great restaurants. We are looking for a Regional L&D Trainer to join our People Team and play a key role in shaping and delivering Learning & Development across both the UK and France.

This is a hands-on, highly visible role for someone who loves being close to the operation, enjoys developing people at all levels and is excited by the opportunity to support the continued development of our UK teams while also helping us build and strengthen our L&D approach in France.

This is a UK-based role with a primary focus on supporting the continued development of our UK teams and operations, alongside regular responsibility for Learning & Development activity in France.

France will be a significant focus initially as we establish stronger learning foundations, career pathways and leadership development across the French business. Over time, the role will maintain a strong UK focus while continuing to support and develop our France operation through regular travel and close partnership with local teams.

Reporting to our Head of Learning & Development, you’ll work closely with our wider L&D and People teams, Operations and leaders across both markets.

An important requirement

Professional fluency in both French and English is essential for this role.

A significant part of the role will involve delivering training, facilitating workshops, coaching managers and communicating with teams directly in French.

Key Responsibilities

You will support learning and development activity across both the UK and France, with the majority of your time focused on our UK teams and operations.

In the UK, you will work alongside the existing L&D team to support the delivery and continued development of learning programmes, management and leadership development, onboarding, career development and operational training across the business.

Alongside this, a major initial priority will be helping us strengthen the foundations of Learning & Development within our France business.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the delivery and continued development of L&D programmes across our UK restaurants and Support Centre teams.
  • Delivering operational, management and leadership development across different levels of the UK business.
  • Working closely with the wider UK L&D team to identify learning needs, support key development priorities and ensure learning remains relevant to the needs of our teams and operation.
  • Coaching and developing managers and operational leaders across the UK.
  • Supporting onboarding, career development, internal progression and succession activity across the UK.
  • Reviewing current training provision in France and identifying capability and development priorities.
  • Building structured learning pathways in France from operational training through to management and leadership development.
  • Taking the strongest elements of our UK learning programmes and adapting them appropriately for the French market.
  • Designing and delivering training, workshops and development sessions in both French and English.
  • Coaching managers and operational leaders across both markets, including delivering coaching and development directly in French.
  • Developing the capability of restaurant managers and operational leaders to train, coach and develop their own teams.
  • Introducing the Tortilla Career Path into France, taking ownership of its implementation and delivery across all agreed levels.
  • Strengthening onboarding and early-stage development within France to create a consistent employee experience.
  • Supporting the continued development and adoption of our Learning Management System and digital learning across both markets.
  • Working closely with Operations and People teams to understand capability needs and create practical learning solutions that work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Spending regular time within restaurants in both the UK and France to observe learning in practice, coach teams and identify opportunities to improve.
  • Measuring the impact of learning activity through feedback, engagement, progression, performance and operational data.

What we are looking for

You’ll have strong experience within Learning & Development, Training, Talent Development or People Development, ideally within a fast-paced, operational or multi-site environment.

You will also be:

  • Professionally fluent in both French and English, written and spoken – this is essential and applicants without this will not be considered.
  • Confident delivering training, workshops and coaching sessions entirely in French as well as in English.
  • An engaging and confident facilitator who is comfortable delivering learning at different organisational levels.
  • Experienced in designing and delivering management and leadership development.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively within L&D and People teams and with stakeholders across the wider business.
  • Someone who thrives on working with others, building alignment and influencing rather than operating in isolation.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities across different locations.
  • Commercially aware and able to connect learning activity with business performance.
  • Comfortable using LMS and digital learning solutions.
  • Comfortable travelling regularly between the UK and France, including overnight stays where required.

Experience within hospitality, restaurants, QSR, retail or another high-volume customer-facing environment would be a real advantage.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to have a genuine impact across two markets.

You’ll join an established UK L&D team and play an important role in supporting the continued development of our UK teams, managers and leaders.

At the same time, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the next stage of Learning & Development in France — creating stronger training foundations, clearer career pathways and a sustainable approach to developing our future leaders.

While the role will remain primarily focused on the UK, there will be a strong focus on France initially as we establish and embed the right L&D foundations.
