The Team

You will join the Global Integration Centre of Excellence (CoE) within Global IS, a team focused on delivering scalable, modern integration solutions across the business.

The EMEA Delivery Team works at the heart of major transformation programmes, ensuring that systems, platforms, and data flows are seamlessly connected. The team translates business needs into integration solutions that enable operational efficiency, improve data quality, and support strategic decision-making.

This team has a direct impact on how effectively Smurfit Westrock operates across regions, ensuring consistency, connectivity, and agility across complex business environments.

 

Role Summary

As a Functional Consultant (EMEA), you will play a pivotal role in connecting business and technology, shaping how integration solutions are designed and delivered across the organisation.

This is an opportunity to work at the centre of digital transformation, ensuring that business needs are clearly understood, translated into actionable requirements, and delivered through high‑quality integration solutions.

Your contribution will be essential in enabling the organisation to unlock the full value of its systems and data, supporting both the team and wider business to operate more effectively at scale.

 

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be doing:

• Leading end‑to‑end requirements gathering and analysis, from initial intake through to validation and business sign‑off
• Structuring and refining business demand across systems, processes, and integration touchpoints
• Translating business needs into clear, implementation-ready specifications and technical requirements
• Identifying risks, gaps, and dependencies early, ensuring stakeholders are informed and aligned
• Collaborating with stakeholders across regions to ensure clarity on scope, priorities, and deliverables
• Bridging business and technical teams by translating requirements in both directions
• Supporting solution design by working closely with architecture and development teams
• Contributing to design reviews and ensuring alignment with CoE standards, reusable integration patterns, and business value
• Supporting prioritisation of initiatives by linking integration demand to business outcomes

Essential Qualifications & Skills

We will need you to have:

• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Professional certification such as CBAP, PMI‑PBA, or similar
• Experience working as an IT Business Analyst or Functional Consultant, ideally within system integration or data migration environments
• Strong experience in requirements gathering, business process analysis, and documentation
• Knowledge of integration concepts (e.g. APIs, data mapping, interface specifications)
• A strong understanding of data structures, data transformation, and data quality in integration scenarios
• Hands-on experience or strong functional understanding of integration platforms, such as MuleSoft
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working in multi-country / regional environments, navigating different processes and stakeholders

We offer a flexible hybrid working model, with the expectation of regular in‑office collaboration, the role is based from our Liverpool office.
