Hillgrove Hotel is currently recruiting an experienced and reliable Maintenance Person to join our team.

We are looking for a practical, hands-on individual with a broad range of general maintenance skills who will take responsibility for completing day-to-day repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes pride in their work and can respond efficiently to the maintenance needs of a busy hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest bedrooms, public areas, leisure facilities, back-of-house areas and grounds.
• Complete routine inspections and identify maintenance or repair requirements.
• Carry out minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, decorating and general building repairs within your level of competence.
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues reported by hotel departments.
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance to help minimise equipment failures and disruption.
• Troubleshoot faults and identify practical solutions to maintenance issues.
• Ensure guest maintenance requests are dealt with efficiently and to a high standard.
• Monitor the condition of hotel equipment, fixtures and facilities and report any significant issues.
• Liaise with external contractors and service providers where specialist works are required.
• Maintain appropriate records of maintenance, repairs and inspections.
• Ensure tools, equipment and maintenance areas are maintained safely and securely.
• Support hotel operations with the movement or setup of furniture and equipment where required.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures and help maintain a safe environment for guests and colleagues.
• Carry out other general maintenance duties required for the effective operation of the hotel.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a general maintenance, facilities, construction or trade-based role.
• Strong practical and general DIY skills.
• Experience or knowledge of plumbing, basic electrical work, carpentry, painting and general building maintenance.
• The ability to use hand and power tools safely and confidently.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• The ability to work independently and manage day-to-day maintenance priorities.
• A good understanding of workplace Health & Safety.
• A reliable, flexible and proactive approach to work.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across all hotel departments.
• Relevant trade qualifications or maintenance certifications would be an advantage but are not essential.
• Previous experience within a hotel or hospitality environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
