­­Job Role: Kitchen Assistant/Porter

Location: The Hollies Lower Stretton

Type of contract: Part time 

  • Minimum 25 hours per week
  • Must be flexible to work weekdays and weekends

 As a Café Assistant at The Hollies Lower Stretton, you’ll be a key member of a small kitchen team, integral to the daily operations within the department & ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently throughout the day. This is a dynamic, hands-on role and you'll play a key part in maintaining high standards and the overall success of the department. You will be required to support the kitchen team in maintaining standards of safety, cleanliness, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Service & Kitchen team support

  • Kitchen Porter shifts – washing dishes, keeping kitchen areas clean and tidy, and putting away and stock rotating deliveries
  • Asist with FoH Duties
  • Assist chefs with food preparation and service when required
  • Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, safety, and compliance, throughout the kitchen and wash-up areas
  • Work seamlessly with other departments to ensure smooth overall operations
  • Assisting the kitchen team with general duties as required
  • Assisting the kitchen team with general duties as required
  • Adhering strictly to allergen procedures and preventing cross-contamination
  • Ensuring cleaning schedules are completed
  • Supporting waste management and recycling procedures
  • Baking shifts – baking off breads, sausage rolls and morning goods for the Farm shop

2. Team & Operational Support

  • Report issues/concerns to the Manager
  • Support the kitchen team during service
  • Create and maintain a positive, collaborative atmosphere on shift

3. Customer experience

  • Deliver top-tier customer service, responding to queries and resolving concerns where necessary
  • Ensure consistency during busy breakfast, brunch, and lunch services
  • Handle any customer complaints in a calm and professional manner

4. Inventory & stock control

  • Monitor stock levels, rotate products (fridge and freezer), and minimise waste
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
  • Organising storage containers, including freezers - receive and store deliveries correctly
  • Keep stock areas orderly and accessible
  • Ensure inventory storage supports efficiency and cleanliness

You’ll have:

  • High standards of cleanliness and attention to hygiene protocols
  • A proactive approach to safety and compliance across the department

  • Must be flexible to work weekends and across various sites within Cheshire
