The Exams Team at Preston College plays a vital role in ensuring every student’s assessment journey is seamless, accurate and fully compliant with JCQ and awarding body regulations. As a busy, high‑performing service, the team manages all aspects of internal and external examinations, from data integrity and secure information handling to scheduling, invigilation, access arrangements and results analysis. Working within the College’s Quality, Teaching and Learning department, the Exams Team collaborates closely with curriculum, learner support and data services to deliver a professional, reliable and student‑centred experience.
For this role, we are seeking an organised, proactive and quality‑driven individual who can support the Exams Manager in leading the day‑to‑day operations of the Exams team. You will bring strong administrative capability, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to coordinate people, processes and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience within an FE exams function, demonstrate a commitment to exceptional customer service, and communicate clearly with staff, students and external partners.
As Assistant Team Leader, you will play a key part in ensuring the College meets JCQ and awarding body requirements while safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of learner and exam data. Working collaboratively with curriculum, learner support and data services, you will help plan resources, manage exam logistics and produce reliable reporting that supports the learner journey. You will contribute to the development of efficient systems and procedures, uphold data protection and quality standards, and help deliver a consistent, high‑quality service to students, staff and external stakeholders.

Job Title: Assistant Team Leader - Exams
Salary: Job family Group 5 (SCP 16 to SCP20) £27,387 to £29,052 per year (pro rata for part-time), salary based on qualifications and experience. There will be an opportunity for progression within this pay range.
Hours: 37 hours per week, 1.0 FTE, Full time, Permanent
