General Assistant

Role: 36 hours - includes alternate weekends 

Location: West Cliff Hall Care Home, West Street, Hythe, Hampshire, SO45 6AA

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, caring and approachable General Assistant to join our care home team.

As a General Assistant, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our residents. You will be a familiar and friendly face around the home, helping to serve food and drinks while taking the time to chat with residents and make them feel comfortable and valued.

This is a front-of-house, resident-facing role, so we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys talking to people, has a warm personality and takes pride in providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and interact with residents in a warm, friendly and respectful manner.
• Serve tea, coffee, drinks, sandwiches, snacks and meals to residents.
• Assist with serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and refreshments throughout the day.
• Talk and engage with residents while serving them, helping to create a pleasant and sociable mealtime experience.
• Ensure residents receive their meals and drinks in a timely and welcoming manner.
• Help set up and clear dining areas before and after meals.
• Keep dining and serving areas clean, tidy and presentable.
• Follow food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.
• Report any concerns about a resident's wellbeing, appetite or dietary needs to the appropriate member of staff.
• Work closely with the care and kitchen teams to ensure residents receive a positive mealtime experience.
