Location: London
At Capsticks, we’re always looking for bright, talented individuals who bring something special to our firm. In return, we’re committed to helping you thrive, succeed, and reach your full potential.
We focus on legal work that makes a real difference to people’s lives. From health to housing, regulators to emergency services, our clients are at the heart of public service – and so are we. That’s why we attract people who want to do good, while building a rewarding career in a leading law firm.
Our Summer Vacation Scheme will run from 21 June to 2 July 2027, across our Birmingham, Leeds, and London offices. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work alongside our legal teams, and learn more about the firm and our people. Throughout the placement, we’ll be assessing you for a future training contract for September 2028 or beyond.
What to Expect
During your two-week placement, you’ll have the opportunity to support real work in one of our legal teams, contributing to a variety of tasks and the possibility to attend court or meet with clients. You’ll be supported by a dedicated supervisor and receive constructive feedback what you’re doing well and how you could be even better.
The scheme also includes:
- Training and development activities, including a reflective paper to summarise your experience on the scheme.
- Networking opportunities with trainee solicitors, partners, associates, and central business services colleagues.
- Insight sessions from our legal divisions to help you understand our work, our clients, and our purpose.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from candidates who:

- Are on course for or have achieved at least a 2:1 in their undergraduate degree.
- Have achieved BBB at A-Level or 120 UCAS points in an equivalent course.
- Are well-rounded, highly driven team players, who can demonstrate their commitment to a career in our specialist sectors.
- Demonstrate skills in creative problem solving, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, prioritisation, and time management, with a technical solution focus.
Application Process

Submit your application by the 23:59 13 December 2026 deadline. (Please note: we may close applications early due to high demand, so you are encouraged to apply early)
- Psychometric Assessment: if you are successful in your written application, you will be invited to complete a short psychometric assessment to assess and gain insights on your abilities and cognitive skills.
- Assessment Centre: if you progress from the psychometric assessment, you will be invited to an in-person assessment centre in our Birmingham, Leeds or London office on either 22 January, 25 January, 29 January, or 1 February 2026 (dates and invites will be confirmed in early January 2027). At the assessment centre you will undertake individual and group exercises, along with an interview with partners.
Vacation Scheme Placement
The placement dates are 21 June to 2 July 2027 and you must be available to attend for the full duration.
During the placement you are able to meet a variety of people from across the firm and experience our culture and our values for yourself. The scheme is well structured with dedicated supervisors at hand to enable successful you to gain first-hand experience of life as a trainee solicitor.
You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and show what you can bring to the firm, so we encourage you to show us your potential. Throughout your time with us, we’ll be assessing you for a future training contract for September 2028 or beyond. Outcomes on training contract offers will be communicated within two weeks of completing your placement.
Please note:
- Whilst we appreciate you may choose to use a range of sources and generative AI tools to help you prepare for our application process, the content of your written application should be your own words. Doing the right thing is important to us as one of our values, so we want to hear your authentic voice and what matters to you, rather than generic answers or responses where AI does all the talking.
- You may only apply for one location per application cycle and should not submit multiple applications with different email addresses.
- We understand that feedback is important, however due to the volume of applications received, we are unfortunately unable to provide feedback at the application form stage or following the psychometric assessment. For those candidates who progress to the assessment centre stage, we are able to provide feedback on your performance.
