Senior Residential Childcare Worker £16.42 to £16.79 per hour Peterborough | Florinee Homes Posted 4 hours ago | Ref: DH1639556PetSRCW

This role is for people who quietly lead.

Not through job titles or authority - but through consistency, calmness, and how they show up every day for children and colleagues alike.

If you’re already the person others naturally turn to, who takes pride in doing things properly, and who wants to help shape a home rather than just work shifts in it, this could be your next step.

Why Florinee Homes?

At Florinee Homes, we believe strong homes are built by strong, supported teams. We are a growing organisation with a clear vision - to provide stable, nurturing environments where both children and staff can thrive.

Our homes are led by visible, hands‑on managers. Support is real, not just promised. We create space for people to grow, have a voice, and influence how care is delivered - not just follow instructions.

This is not a chaotic or reactive service. We value structure, professionalism, and doing the right thing consistently.

The role

As a Senior Residential Childcare Worker, you will be a trusted presence within the home -supporting children directly while also helping to guide and support the wider staff team.

This role is about leading by example. You will help set the tone of the home, model good practice, and support less experienced staff, while continuing to build meaningful, stable relationships with the children in your care.

You’ll work closely with Managers and Deputies, contributing to the smooth running of the home and supporting quality, consistency, and safety across each shift.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing high‑quality, child‑centred care and emotional support
  • Acting as a positive role model for Residential Childcare Workers
  • Helping to maintain routines, structure, and a calm home environment
  • Supporting shift planning, handovers, and day‑to‑day decision making
  • Contributing to care planning, risk management, and safeguarding practices
  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting quality documentation
  • Working collaboratively with managers, families, and professionals
  • Supporting new starters and promoting good practice across the team

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working within a children’s residential setting
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Confidence to support others and take responsibility when needed
  • A calm, reflective approach - especially during challenging moments
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build trust with children and colleagues alike
  • A genuine commitment to creating safe, stable, nurturing environments

What we offer

  • A permanent, contracted role within a stable and supportive organisation
  • Clear progression pathways for those looking to develop further
  • Structured induction and role‑relevant training
  • Regular supervision, reflective practice, and management support
  • A team culture where experience and professionalism are valued
