Job Description: Female Support Worker

Pay: £14.50 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Support Worker to support an autistic lady with an intellectual disability and epilepsy in the Shrewsbury area.

Role Description

We are committed to equal opportunities and have a fantastic opportunity for caring and dedicated Support Workers to join a small team supporting an incredible woman in her own home. She lives life to the fullest and needs a team that will embrace her world, her family, and her way of doing things.

She communicates verbally and with the help of visual aids and signs, and requires support in all areas of daily living , from personal care and meal preparation to shopping, appointments, and community activities. She loves decorating for celebrations, swimming, and going shopping.

Family is an important part of her life, and it’s essential that new team members value these relationships and work collaboratively with them.

While she can sometimes display distressed behaviours, she thrives with consistent support from people who are calm, patient, and trained (or willing to be trained) in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).

To be part of her team, we’re looking for people who:

• Have a genuine passion for helping others live their best lives
• Are patient, caring, and great communicators (both verbal and non-verbal)
• Have experience with PBS or are keen to learn
• Take a person-centred approach and always put the individual first
• Are consistent, reliable, and work well as part of a team
• Hold a full UK driving licence (essential)
• Have experience supporting people with autism and/or intellectual disabilities (desirable)

Schedule:

• 12 hour shifts 8-8 
• Weekend availability
• Overtime

Licence/Certification:

• Driving Licence (MUST)
• PBS / Autism training (preferred)
