Our Cookery School is located on Hookstone Chase, Harrogate where customers learn new culinary skills through courses and demonstrations, but also as a place in our community to enjoy a hands-on cooking experience and learn about healthy, nutritious food and careers.

An opportunity has arisen in our Cookery School and we are looking for a Course Assistant who will be responsible for the smooth preparation of all Bettys Cookery School courses, working alongside other Course Assistant’s and as part of a small team. You will deliver exceptional customer experience which includes independently cooking a high-quality hot lunch for the delegates and ensuring all ingredients, refreshments, service areas and course materials are prepared to timescales. You will support the running of the course by providing assistance to the Tutor when needed. We need to ensure our customers receive outstanding customer service, which exceeds their expectations and to Bettys’ standards.  

Working Pattern

• This is a part-time role working 16 hours over 2 days, working predominantly Fridays and Saturdays as these are our customer delivery days. 
• You may be required to work a different day subject to business needs.

About you - You will have experience in a catering or kitchen environment, with confidence in preparing and producing recipes at scale. You will have a good understanding of food safety and health and safety standards and be committed to following best practice at all times.  Experience in baking, patisserie, meat and fish preparation is desirable. You will possess excellent customer service skills recognising that our customer is at the heart of everything we do, striving for excellence in customer care and service. You will be able to work to a high standard with attention to detail, following established processes, managing stock effectively, adhering to use by dates and consistently producing high-quality food. You will have strong organisational and time management skills and be able to multi-task and work to tight deadlines while remaining calm under pressure.
