About British Cycling

In 2027 the UK will host the Grand Depart of both the Tour De France and the Tour De France Femme, Avec Zwift. This will be the first time in history that both races have departed from the same country, outside of France. A landmark social impact programme will also be delivered across the UK, tackling inactivity, improving mental wellbeing, boosting economic growth and supporting communities to thrive.

A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) – Grand Depart GB 2027 – will maintain oversight of the delivery of the events and will manage public funding on behalf of DCMS, Scottish Government, Welsh Government and UK Sport.

The SPV is a Joint Venture between UKEL (a new sports events company) and British Cycling.

British Cycling will deliver the operational and business function, social impact and volunteer programmes along with all consumer facing functions, on behalf of partners.

We are now recruiting for a Community Marketing Manager, Tour de France Grand Départ 2027.

This fixed-term position will play a pivotal role in connecting the national Grand Départ campaign with communities and partners across the route. Working closely with Local Authority partners, host destinations and community stakeholders, you will help ensure a consistent, impactful and measurable campaign is delivered across every host location.

You will lead the coordination of community marketing activity across the Tour de France & Tour de Frances Femmes avec Zwift Grands Départs routes, ensuring local activations align with the overarching campaign, brand and strategic objectives. You will identify and develop opportunities that increase participation, generate positive stories, celebrate local communities and amplify the social impact of the event.

You will be a proactive marketing professional with experience managing stakeholders, partnerships and place-based campaigns. Comfortable operating at both a strategic and delivery level, you will be equally confident building relationships with senior local authority partners and identifying grassroots stories that bring the event to life.

As part of the Brand and Engagement Directorate, you'll sit alongside British Cycling's marketing and communications teams and work closely with the Marketing Lead, Content Marketing Lead, Digital & Social Manager and Digital Production Officer.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing relationships with Local Authority marketing and communications teams across host locations along the Tour de France Grand Départ and Tour de France Femmes routes.
  • Supporting partners to develop and deliver local marketing activity aligned with the overarching Grand Départ campaign and brand.
  • Monitoring community activation across the route, identifying opportunities, sharing best practice and providing support where required.
  • Ensuring campaign consistency and brand alignment across partner activity, communications and local activations.
  • Identifying and developing opportunities to increase community participation, awareness and engagement before, during and after the event.
  • Working closely with the Digital and Social Manager to identify and develop compelling community stories, local champions and social impact case studies.
  • Supporting the promotion of the Tour de France Grand Départ Social Impact Programme JOY, ensuring activities and outcomes are celebrated across host locations.
  • Collaborating with the Digital Production Officer to feed a regular pipeline of content opportunities into digital, social and owned channels.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of community marketing toolkits, guidance and resources for partners.
  • Tracking and reporting on partner activity, participation and engagement to help measure campaign impact and effectiveness.
  • Contributing ideas for new activations, partnerships and storytelling opportunities that strengthen the campaign and enhance community involvement.
  • Supporting event-time activity and engagement, working flexibly across some evenings and weekends where required (with time off in lieu).

What we’re looking for:

  • You thrive as part of a creative, fast-paced team, building positive relationships with colleagues, riders, fans, and external partners.
  • You have 3-5 years experience, bringing a proactive, can-do attitude and a hunger to learn.
  • You are an excellent relationship builder who enjoys working with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners to achieve common goals.
  • You have experience managing multi-partner marketing campaigns, community programmes or place-based initiatives and understand how to balance local priorities with national campaign objectives.
  • You are highly organised and comfortable overseeing activity across multiple locations, ensuring projects stay on track and opportunities are maximised.
  • You have a strong understanding of brand management and campaign delivery and can confidently support partners to align their activity with agreed messaging, visual identity and strategic goals.
  • You have a natural instinct for spotting opportunities, uncovering compelling stories and connecting people, projects and partnerships that can enhance the impact of a campaign.
  • You are motivated by making a difference and are passionate about celebrating the positive impact major events can have on communities.
  • Knowledge of cycling is a bonus, but more important is your ability to identify and develop opportunities that drive participation, create community pride and generate meaningful engagement.

What are the perks?

  • Competitive Salary
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Generous Holidays (25 days + bank holidays)
  • Holiday purchase scheme
