Office base: Wigan, WN3 5BA - You need to be able to comfortably commute to this location several times a week. Hybrid working will be in place after a period of onboarding.

We are looking for a passionate Education Solicitor to join our highly regarded team. This is an opportunity to build a rewarding career in a specialist area of law where your expertise can make a genuine difference.

About the role

Working alongside Maria Chadwick and her team as an Education Solicitor, you'll manage a varied caseload of Education Law SEND disputes on behalf of Claimants and Discrimination claims on behalf of Respondent schools, providing expert advice and representation to clients navigating the Tribunal process. You'll take ownership of cases from initial instruction through to resolution.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Advising clients on legal options, risks and case strategy.
• Preparing tribunal applications, evidence, witness statements and legal documentation.
• Representing clients before Education Tribunals where appropriate and instructing Counsel when required.
• Supporting business development activity and helping grow the Education Law offering.

About you

You will be a confident and motivated solicitor who combines technical expertise with outstanding client care.

Essential requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor with 2+ years PQE and a current practising certificate.
• A background in SEND Tribunal, civil litigation or Employment Tribunal work.
• Experience managing your own caseload.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy practice area.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of financial performance.
• A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable clients and achieving positive outcomes.

Desirable:

• Strong knowledge and practical experience of SEND Tribunal work.
• Advocacy experience.
• Additional training or qualifications relevant to Education Law.
• Advanced IT and case management system skills.
