Bakery Team Leader

We need a Bakery Team Leader who'll supervise our production and bakery teams day to day, keeping operations safe, efficient and high-quality — while coaching operatives into stronger performers.

THE OPPORTUNITY

• £15.35 per hour
• 5 days out of 7, including 1 weekend day
• 45 hours per week
• Reporting to the Production Manager/Head Baker, with Operatives and Multiskilled Operatives reporting to you
• Cover for the Production Shift Manager role when required

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a small-to-medium production operation
• Previous experience in a production or manufacturing Team Leader role, ideally food production
• Experience working in a BRCGS or SALSA accredited environment
• An understanding of Continuous Improvement techniques — 5S, VSM, visual tools
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and manage people effectively
• Strong communication skills, with clear instruction and feedback
• Good emotional intelligence and ability to stay calm under pressure
• Food safety or health & safety qualifications desirable

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Supervising, supporting and motivating operatives to hit daily targets
• Coaching, mentoring and giving on-the-job guidance to build team capability
• Monitoring attendance, timekeeping and conduct, addressing issues per company procedure
• Ensuring all activity is carried out safely, especially around machinery and cold storage
• Carrying out routine quality checks and supporting audits and inspections
• Monitoring waste levels and contributing to efficiency initiatives
• Communicating daily priorities and performance updates to the team, and escalating issues appropriately
• Working cross-functionally with Technical, Engineering and Logistics to support business outcomes
