Deputy Manager – Adults Supported Living Services

Salary: £40,000 per Annum | 40 Hours per Week |  Full-Time

Base Location: Patrick House, 180 Lifford lane, Kings Norton, Birmingham , B30 3NU

We're looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join our Supported Living services, leading a cluster of services across Birmingham. Working in close partnership with the Registered Manager, you'll play a key role in driving quality of care, supporting CQC compliance, and providing strong, visible people management to staff teams across multiple sites.

You'll act as 2nd line on-call support outside of core hours and deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of leadership, compliance, and person-centred, high-quality support at all times.

About the Role

As our Deputy Manager, you'll:

• Support the Registered Manager in leading the day-to-day operation of a cluster of Supported Living services for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs
• Deputise for, and cover, the Registered Manager during periods of leave or absence
• Provide 2nd line on-call support across the cluster outside of core hours
• Drive quality of care that is person-centred, outcome-focused, and promotes independence and wellbeing
• Be a strong, visible presence across multiple sites, supporting staff, families, and the people we support

Key Responsibilities

• Support all aspects of CQC compliance, including inspection-readiness and hands-on support before, during, and after CQC inspections
• Provide strong, visible people management across the cluster,  supervising, coaching, appraising, and motivating staff teams
• Travel regularly across the cluster to support services, staff, and the people they support
• Support the recruitment, induction, and ongoing training and development of staff across the cluster
• Regularly audit and review care plans, risk assessments, and support plans, ensuring they remain accurate and person-centred
• Support the investigation and management of incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns, and complaints
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with families, commissioners, and other external stakeholders
• Support the Registered Manager in achieving occupancy, financial, and operational targets for the cluster
• Ensure all staff understand and comply with CQC regulations, safeguarding procedures, the Mental Capacity Act, and DoLS
• Deputise for the Registered Manager at management and stakeholder meetings as required

What We're Looking For

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent) — essential
• Proven experience in a similar level role (e.g. Deputy Manager or equivalent), supporting adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs — essential
• Extensive knowledge of CQC regulations and the fundamental standards, with demonstrable experience supporting inspections — essential
• Strong people management skills, with a proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff teams
• A strong focus on quality of care delivery and a track record of driving continuous improvement
• Working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, safeguarding, and other relevant legislation
• Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with a willingness to travel regularly across the cluster
• Willingness to participate in the 2nd line on-call rota, including evenings and weekends
