The Role

The role of the Ships Officer / Able Seaperson is a navigating officer and on the deck within the role of Able Seaman.

Demonstrate the Company Values in all interactions with customers and colleagues, ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• To assist the Chief Officer to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the ship
• Ensure that all Navigational charts and publications are corrected to date
• To assist the Master in Passage planning and ensuring the availability of all necessary charts and publications for the voyage
• Take control of a Mooring or Anchoring party as required
• Deputise for the Chief Officer in his Absence
• Take charge of a Bridge watch
• Comply with pollution prevention requirements

• STCW Personal Survival Techniques
• STCW Proficiency in Survival craft and rescue boats
• STCW Personal safety and Social responsibility certificates
• GMDSS radio operators certificate
• Radar and ARPA certification
• Efficient Deckhand certificate
