Purpose

We are seeking a Junior Structures Engineer to join our Structures team, reporting to the Chief Engineer - Structures.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineering graduate, apprentice or individual with relevant manufacturing or engineering experience who wishes to develop a career within the aerospace industry. Working alongside Senior Structures Engineers, you will support product weight management and gain experience in structural engineering activities, including Finite Element (FE) modelling and stress analysis documentation.

The role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to maintain design intent within a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain accurate product weight reports.
• Manage product weight records and ensure data remains current and accurate.
• Support Senior Structures Engineers with weight management activities.
• Develop knowledge of Finite Element (FE) model creation and analysis.
• Develop an understanding of structural stress analysis and documentation.
• Ensure assigned work complies with applicable engineering requirements, standards and company processes.
• Produce engineering documentation to the required quality standards and agreed timescales.
• Work collaboratively with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support programme objectives.
• Travel to company and supplier locations when required to support project activities.
• Undertake additional duties as reasonably requested in support of business objectives.

• Effective communication and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Knowledge, Education & Skills

Essential

• Basic mathematical skills and understanding of geometric principles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks accurately.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow established engineering processes and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, or relevant experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Desirable

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Completion of a relevant engineering or manufacturing apprenticeship.
• Experience using CAD software.
• Experience with CATIA V5.
• Knowledge of structural engineering, FE modelling or stress analysis principles.

Professional Experience

Previous professional experience is not essential.

This role would suit a recent graduate, apprentice or candidate seeking to begin or develop a career in aerospace structures engineering.

Working Arrangements

• Primary location: Bournemouth.
• Travel between company and supplier sites may be required.
• UK and occasional international travel may be necessary to support project requirements.
• Flexibility to work across multiple locations as required.
